Five so far, I thought. Five innocent children slaughtered in a one room Amish school house in central Pennsylvania. The others, wounded, only time will tell. A man with some motive any motive did this. Who knew. Who really knew this man. Now the analysis and solutions spew from the media. He was normal or he was troubled. He had issues or he was a loving father. Hey listeners, lock your doors, take away the guns, buy more guns, we need to prevent this from happening again. Although, hand guns, jails, and metal detectors are not really the Amish way. (More)

A Slippery Fish Indeed

One of the things that amazes me is how well the universe functions with seemingly random and incomplete rules. Of course the sun will come up tomorrow, but it might rain. So rather than get all scientific on the topic I thought I would cut to the chase and sum everything up in poem that recently came to me.

How I Changed My Religion

About twenty five years ago, I was working in a large bakery plant in Norristown, PA. Fresh out of college and on my way to graduate school, I was ready to take on the world. In college, I studied chemistry and computers. Science, for me, is a quest for truth and little did I know, I would find one my greatest truths in a hot bakery in July. (More)
